Ntshonalanga Fishing is a black female owned, Cape Town based fishing company with a Deep Sea Hake, Pilchards and Anchovies quota.
Ntshonalanga Fishing has also acquired shares in fishing vessels for Deep Hake Sea Trawl & Small Pelagic from reputable companies with suitable vessels for the appropriate sector, in terms of the allocated 15 years of Fishing Rights allocated by the DFFE.
Working with its reputable partners, Ntshonalanga Fishing harvests, processes, and markets fish. The catch is harvested in the Western and Eastern Cape, where it is caught, processed & marketed by Umzabalazo/Nomzamo for Hake (Sold primarily to Spanish markets). Small Pelagic quota like Anchovies/Pilchards is caught, processed and marketed by Gondo.
In partnering with like-minded companies, Ntshonalanga Fishing harvests fish in an ethical, sustainable, and environmentally friendly manner.
Ntshonalanga Fishing is not only about profit, but the company also strives towards being a change agent by supporting NGOs, working with schools and Universities in order to promote education and training of the youth.

Our values
Ntshonalanga Fishing is a company that is owned and run by local people. It is a company for the 21st century and beyond. The visionary and innovative leadership adopted by the directors aims to empower the talent in the company so that everybody works towards achieving the envisioned future.
Good governance and ethics are a priority to the company, which is why we have successfully and sustainably remained in business. The company has forged connections, created mutual trust and committed to doing business above board which is the bedrock of a successful partnership.
Who we are
The company is owned and managed by Ayanda Malunga and Thuli Sanqela, who assumed ownership after the death of their husbands Balindi Sanqela & Mtunzi Malunga, who had co-founded the business in 1997
Both men had played a monumental role in advocating for Black Owned Companies & Quota holders, to be valued and included by active participation in the value chain in the Fishing Industry. Both had left a legacy, footprints and a reach that DFFE wants to witness in its Transformation Reality.
Now, as Executive Directors, Ayanda and Thuli are actively involved in the daily operations of the business in pursuit of meaningful involvement, increasing inherent value by vigorously participating in the value chain of fishing.

Ayanda Malunga is a UCT graduate (BSoc Sc (Hons), FDE, Dip Project Management. A social transformational entrepreneur, seasoned motivational speaker and businesswoman, Ayanda is a wayfinder and forward thinker. Passionately finding solutions that directly address social issues such as unemployment and unequal opportunities, Ayanda lives by one rule in Alan Webber’s book, Rules of Thumb- ” You don’t know if you don’t go.” She firmly believes in the concept of generating profits from creating jobs which in turn profit social enterprises.

An MBA graduate from the Management College of Southern Africa, Thuli Sanqela is a seasoned businesswoman, a lifelong learner, who is results driven and passionate about female leadership development. She has an impressive background in academics, and her previous role in the institutions of higher learning exposed to her the dearth of female representation in decision making platforms. This was an impetus for her to pursue interest in youth training and empowerment.
